ARCANE WILLOW

Arcane Willow started their musical journey in late 2009. It all started in the flat landscapes of the southern parts os Sweden. The two friends Fredrik and Marcus had been sharing the idea of forming a band for some time, and after a few brews on a cold evening, they decided to make it happen.
They both shared the vision of being an uncompromissed band where raw emotion and creativety is the center point. But first they needed to find a bass player! They asked their friend Andreas who jumped the Arcane ship right away.

Next they started rehersing on some songs Fredrik had written a while back, and it worked like a charm! After being a band for a brief month the band decided to try their wings, playing live at a huge party on the country side. The gig went really well and they found even more fuel to keep things going. The same night another mutual friend Max asked if they needed another guitar player, and from that moment on, they had themselves a great guitarist in Arcane Willow. The circle was complete after Max joined and after a couple of months they ended up recording their first EP "Barren Plains". After that they spent countless days and evenings crafting songs and playing some shows in between. They also managed to record some songs in 2010 that were put out for free on myspace.

Later the same year they had finished writing songs for a new EP. This would be their first official release recorded proffessionaly by their great friend and musician Lotta Wenglén, at her Margit Music Studio. The five track EP was released in May 2011. Shortly thereafter the band also made their international debute playing their first show in Germany.

Since then the band have pushed themselves even further musically and has grown tighter as a unit. On their hands they have 10 of their best songs written to date, and will make up for their first fullength to be recorded October 2011. The LP will see the light of day in Spring 2012.
Creating new music, challenging themselves to get better and bring new ideas to the table is the key for Arcane Willow. With the love for early 90's indierock, 70's folkrock loud guitars and powerpop you will find Arcane Willow making music that they love.

BLIND LAKE

Originally a 2003 sci-fi novel by Robert Charles Wilson, Blind Lake, the duo comprised of Lotta Wenglén (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, vocals) and Måns Wieslander (guitar, drums, bass, vocals) derived their band name from the book where in a small Minnesota locale, through alien technology, scientists are able to follow the everyday lives of aliens on a distant planet. The paranormal subject matter aptly reflects the Böste, Sweden based duo’s approach to art, music, philosophy and the perfectly normal events in life which remain perfectly unexplainable.
Wieslander explains, “It’s sort of like what we do, observe people (including ourselves) and situations from the Blind Lake headquarters. We also liked the sound of it, the sci-fi equivalent of a blank page, just waiting to be filled.”

The duo’s approach to songwriting is much like an early scene in a sci-fi plot where the observable is still hazy until each clue appears to present vivid clarity. Wenglén says, “The songs never arrive fully formed. We try to keep them pretty shapeless and just mess around with them until we get those shivers down our backs.” This approach allows them to touch on a variety of genres including new wave, soul, folk and pop to circle their core with voices intimately intertwining into a slightly haunted, ruggedly elegant soundscape.
As each song evolves and introduces a slightly varied genre, it provides an eclectic and cinematic quality as if on a soundtrack to a movie with many twists and turns, ups and downs. Although this is a band who is solidly planted in the present, with an eye to the future, history does a way of presenting itself with the diversity of genres which infiltrate their music. Much of this can be explained by not only what inspires them, but also their own musical history as well.

Wenglén, whose range of experience includes folk and pop, earned best of year accolades on her fourth solo album. She has both played and recorded with Chip Taylor (“Wild Thing”, “Angel of the Morning”) and toured and recorded with Nina Persson of the Cardigans in support of an award winning documentary called “Jag är min egen Dolly Parton” (I Am My Own Dolly Parton). Her pre-solo band ba-ba-loo toured with Whiskeytown and The Lotta Wenglén band opened for The Cave Singers.
Wieslander played with Australian punk band The Saints while his solo band Elevator Adam supported the likes of The Posies and Hoodoo Gurus. He also has a long history with dream pop act, Moonbabies’ Ola Frick in various projects.

On earth, Blind Lake’s upcoming album due out June 15 which could be best described as rootsy sci-fi, is like an invitation in time travel. The duo journeys through Crosby, Stills Nash & Young’s 70s style long, warm harmonies,The Carpenters’ melancholy and the melodic intimacy of Laura Veirs while Wieslander’s rich baritone simultaneously bring to mind The National’s Matt Berninger as well as 90s new wave acts such as The Church.

As the genres seamlessly interlace and meld into a cohesive mix anchored by the harmonies between Wenglén and Wieslander, Blind Lake is like an exploration into the unknown: love, death, divorce and unconfirmed alien abductions-the everyday big stuff through a slightly distorted lens.

CECILIA NORDLUND

Post-indie-non-ironic danceable electrobeat – and in Swedish.
3:52 minutes of indieelectro heaven is the first single "Alla sa att allting var farligt"
. A hit perfectly adapted for airplay .

The first time Cecilia Nordlund (Souls, Monkeystrikes, Cilihili, Dollykollot, Sunshine Rabbits) writes swedish lyrics she teams up with electrolegend and producer Johan Sigerud (The Soft Eyes, Cougar And Snail, my Orchard). The result is a four minute beatladen discharge where grinding indieguitars collides with a kick drum straight from the Ruhrgebiet. Add choirs of out of tune recorders and everything adds up to create havoc on the dancefloor.

Drums: Fredrik Myhr Bass: Mattias Areskog. Mix: Joachim Ekermann.

CILIHILI

Documentary filmmaker Jessica Nettelbladt started filming the concerts and doing in-depth interviews with the artists. During 5 years the artists share moments of joy, grief, and some very private moments with the camera.

The film was released in 2011 titled; ”I´m my own Dolly Parton”. On the opening tour the artists would perform there own as well as Dolly Parton songs live right after the film.

ERIKA ROSÉN

Erika lives on the countryside (of Skåne), in the south part of Sweden. Music is, has been and will always be a big part of my life and my way of living. I have recorded many songs through out the years, all through different bands, some bad songs, some short ones, some good songs, som odd ones and some with a bit of everything. I like to record new stuff as soon as the inspiration hits me. I have also toured and got the oppertunity to meet fantastic people.

Its somehow not easy to describe my own music, but I guess that some of my influences tells something - Sonic Youth, Lisa Germano, John Frusciante, Damien jurado, Mazzy star for example. Sometimes I make traditional indie/folk music and other days I make more dirty, guitarrbased songs combined with the drummachine. The alternative Indierock music from the 80-90ties is always present in my life. Simple recordings with a lot of love and emotions goes straight into me. My friends inspire me a lot, both to make, write my own music, perform it, to share it, to record it and live it. Thanks to all of you.
You are all my source of inspiration. .... ....The lovely bands I am in: .... Small flowers crack concrete, DunDun, Minus at the mill and a coperation with Affictionados.

LOTTA WENGLÉN

Lotta was born in Malmoe in 1971 and started playing guitar and writing songs at an early age. She soon began making taperecordings with her older brother. When the two of them were introduced to a four channel portastudio it was pure heaven.

In her teens Lotta started her first band, but it wasn´t until the winter of 1995, when Lotta and two friends formed the band "ba-ba-loo", that things started to sound any good. They did
some local gigs in Malmoe and then got the danish recordcompany Mega Records to record
and release their album "Frosting- the american way" in 1998.

In 1999, Lotta and Uffe, the bassplayer from ba-ba-loo took in two new band members and changed their name to "bobby ray". The band did a demo and played at Popstad 2000 in Malmoe.

In the year 2000 Lotta went solo and recorded the album "Golden Green" (DUNDRET STUDIO). It was released through Adrian Recordings in 2001. American songwriter Chip Taylor joined her in a duett on the album, "The hard part´s to stay". The song was also released as a single two months before the album came out.

Lotta started her own label in 2001, Margit Music (after her grandmother) and released the ep "Scratch", the single "Ambassador of love" and the album "Paintbrush" that same year. All recorded at MIN STUDIO in Malmoe.

During the years 2003 and 2004 she wrote, produced and recorded her third album by the computer at her house in Hököpinge Kyrkby. She namned it "Ask Harry" and released it in Sweden through Margit Music in February 2005. Lotta moved into Malmoe in 2005 and wrote
new songs. She had no plan of making them into an album. Instead she recorded songs and released them the next day on myspace. It felt like a more pleasant way of working and much more efficiant way to release songs.

When she found out that she had been granted financial support from Statens Kulturråd to produce an album her plans changed drasticly. She already had songs to fill an album so the switch in her brain was easly turned. Her fourth album " In The Core" was released in September 2008.

Lotta started playing with Carolina Carlcom, Magnus Sveningsson and Måns Wieslander. They toured in Germany and new songs where written. The songs became Lottas fifth album "Thanks for your generous donations!"
Erika Rosén, Sofia Härdig and Katharina Nuttall joined her on the album alongside the band. The album was recorded during a short period of time and followed a crazy production plan that Lotta had come up with. Alot of the humour and fun recordings made it through the mix and hopefully this can be heard by the people who listen to the album. Album relase in May 2011.

The Bands
Lottas soloband contains great musicians such as Måns Wieslander on guitar, Magnus Sveningsson on bass and Carolina Carlbom on drums.

She has a new formed band called BLIND LAKE with Måns Wieslander

Former bands: ba-ba-loo, Up the mountain and Sunshine Rabbits

MIRANDA GJERSTAD

Miranda started out 16 years old to make a name of herself in the music scene of Malmoe, Sweden.
With her pumporgan, powerful voice and cabaret inspired performances she could be seen playing at parties in the dark swedish woods, rockclubs and theaters, wearing glittering clowncostumes and feathered dress-coats.

When Miranda at the age of 18 moved to Berlin she had already been playing on radio and tv, composed theater music and been nominated by the Swedish independent music award "Manifestgalan" as Best unsigned artist of the year -09.

In Berlin you could hear her sing in trainstations, bars, clubs and festivals. The theatrical teenager was fading away and forth came a simple and honest sound with suggestive folky tunes and a voice more sensitive and frail.

MÅNS WIESLANDER
(also Twin Piloda)

Måns Wieslander grew up on the coast of southern Sweden in the 70’s among fish, summer visitors and very small alien creatures. At the age of 9 he started playing songs by Human League, Pretenders, Duran Duran, Ramones, Kim Wilde & Yazoo on a one-string guitar. Only months later he made his cassette-debut with The Drugit; a guitar/skillet duo featuring Måns and one of two elder brothers (and one half of cult-band Twist Intim), Staffan Wieslander. Propelled by the fascination with the exciting lives and exotic record collections of the two siblings, a fourteen-year old Måns formed Nowhere Kings, short-lived local rockgods who later evolved into Teenage Head.

The beginning of the 90’s saw Wieslander and best friend Johan Weitner relocating to Malmö. There, another brother was found–bassplayer Anders Wieslander. Together with drumwizard Conny Städe they completed the line-up of powerpop heroes Elevator Adam. The band lasted until 2000, releasing only an EP and a single (but recording hundreds of songs) and having very limited commercial success. During this period, Wieslander started playing the bass with Ossler, had a brief stint with Australian legends The Saints, and began collaborating with Moonbabies’ Ola Frick on various projects.

Endless nights were spent listening to American Music Club, Kate Bush, The Church, Joni Mitchell, The Fall, Replacements, Nick Drake, New Order, Buffalo Tom, Kevin Ayers, XTC, Residents, Prince, Robyn Hitchcock, Pet Shop Boys, NRBQ, Husker Du & Gösta Linderholm.

Rumours (unconfirmed up to this day) spread about Wieslander being involved in the infamous/unfamiliar psych-portapop-wreckage-orchestra The Spy who loved me. Time will tell the truth.
The first solo album, Twin Piloda, was released in 2000 and nr.2, Yet came out in 2002 on the Illinois based label Parasol. Måns became a member of Lotta Wenglen’s band in 2004, and has since appeared on two albums: In the core (2007) & Thanks for your generous donations (2011). In 2012, Måns composed and recorded music for the documentary Enclosed moments (En värld av kalk) by Jens Klevje & Fabian Svensson. A third solo album, Brother Jona (MargitMusic), was released under the Twin Piloda moniker in 2009. Most people thought it was Wieslanders’ debut album re-issued with new cover art… An EP, Beautiful without me, was released in May 2013.

Some exhaustive cassette-excavation/restoration will result in material from 1982-2013 being made available anytime soon. And more EP’s are on the way.

Blind Lake, a dusty yet fresh and elegant duo comprised of Lotta Wenglen & Måns, are working on their debut album as we speak. There are rumours of a Blind Lake documentary at work, featuring endless monotone babble about various microphone placements, a demon-foetus and brain-tissue on display.

Until then, Repent! Repent!

SANDY MOUCHE

The Swedish band consists of the married couple and lead singers
Martinique and Helena Josefsson and the brother couple Ola
and Per Blomgren (lead guitar / drums, additional instruments).

The long break has given them musical experiences through making soloprojects and touring with
other artists (this has created a fan base spread worldwide).
Per built a studio by his house in the countryside, not far from the city Malmö (Tirup).
This changed the way the band could use its most important qualities.

Sandy Mouche is a very organic live band, who interacts with the audience and the mood of the day.
You rarely hear a version more than three times. The biggest challenge has been to capture that in a
recording, and to make the voices sound as dynamic as they really are.

The bands forthcoming album ”Glory & Grace” took years to develop. Finally Sandy Mouche found a way to collaborate in the studio- more than ever they created the music together. They let it take all the time that was needed. ”L´elephant dans la chambre” is a good example of this. Ola came with the guitar
composition and the others completed it with French lyrics and melodies. Two different arrangements
were tried, until they fell for the bossa nova feeling.

”Rainbow” is another example- where Helena refused to accept the first completed version and tore
her hair- until she wrote a chorus that could carry Martiniques stunning verse. As for the production-
Per sitting behind the knobs- sometimes the song got its perfect suit immediately (Singletrack ”Glory
& Grace” and ”The Garden”) , sometimes the song had to be turned inside and out several times,
until the heart of the song was bare and strong (”Hurt”).

Their two first albums- ”White Lucky Dragon” (2004) and ”Sandy Mouche…and poems for the
unborn” (2007) were released in Sweden, France, Australia and Japan. The hit single ”Spiderweb Suit”
was a part of the soundtrack of the independent movie ”New York Waiting”. These two albums took
the band to concerts and radioshows in Sweden, Poland and France.

The music of Sandy Mouche is not a dayfly, but a companion through the joy, the sorrow and the
laughter. ”Spiderweb Suit” has become an independent wedding song, on beaches and cliffs around
Sweden- and people around the world, especially South America, North America and Europe (Poland,
Germany, England) has waited patiently for this album to come.

ÅSA GUSTAFSSON
